Homemade Insect Repellent

Lavender plants

From Aromatherapy Recipe Exchange there is a recipe for Insect Repellent that you can make from Essential Oils. If you are a gardener, you can grow your own lavender and then make your own essential oil from the plants you grow to save some money.

4 ounces distilled water
20 drops Citronella
15 drops Lavender
15 drops Eucalyptus
10 drops Patchouli

Prepare EO (essential oil) blend, add to spray bottle and then add distilled water. Shake well to blend. This formula should be shaken well before use.

Between the Flea Trap and vacuuming daily, I solved the flea problem.
I haven't had any fleas in my home for years.
I still use the Flea Trap to catch other tiny insects before they can reproduce.
I live in a row home in South Philadelphia and I recommend it to anyone that has an unfinished basement.
It captures more when all lights around it are turned off.

I think if I was just using this alone, I would have more fleas jumping around here, but I use it and also a flea spray on the cats and bedding, and it does a great job at reducing, or most days, eliminating the problem. This does work even though I use it with a flea spray, because when I change the glue pad it's loaded with fleas. I'd recommend it, although not as an only solution, but it does a good job at what it's supposed to do.

(This review is for the capture pads, because that's what I bought, but they need to be used with the light unit that the pads fit into, also.)

These are wonderful traps! I bought 3 and the one in the living room started filling up slowly, but the fleas are migrating there and I expect to be flea free very soon! I use spot flea treatment on my cats, too, and wash bedding in hot water weekly. Vacuum frequently. My cat even sleeps next to the trap as she likes the warmth and seems to know it's there to help. The cost is minimal to the aggravation of indoor fleas.

We've used these flea traps for a few years. They won't get rid of fleas completely on their own, but definately make a difference. The pads are usually covered in a few days, and need replacing. You will need to also medicate your pets, vacume frequently, and probably flea bomb every few weeks. Fleas are terribly hard to get rid of, but these flea traps are a helpful solution.

We thought we caught two fleas one was an ant. And the sticky pads quickly dry out so things do not even stick anymore. also a major part of the construction s a rubber band... are you serious?
don't buy. put your dog/cat on advantix or something and buy a can of bug spray. its easier and does not waste electricity.
