The Deer are as playful as ever!!

The scent solution is not attracting the deer at all. The only thing still luring the deer are the flowers in our garden.

The device may work great once it shocks, but until now no deer has been even the least bit curious to get close to the device.
Maybe helps

We bought a bunch of these in desperation. Liquid Fence was losing effectiveness and we were losing flowers and vegetables. This product is similar to Wireless Deer Fence but uses a commercial attractant based on acorns dropped on cotton balls which have to be replaced after every rainfall. That wouldn't be too handy here in New Jersey and I wasn't so sure about the acorn-based attractant. These Havahart stakes were available at a much lower price and I wanted a lot of them (6 sets). Finally I decided to buy these (on ebay) and order the resin tube attractant from Wireless Deer Fence. The tube-style attractant lasts a month and is not affected by rain. I made a small modification, drilling a hole in the top of each stake to hold the tube.

In use I found the stakes fairly easy to assemble but be careful! The little molded tabs that lock the 2 parts together are small and fragile. I broke one stake trying to straighten it and had to repair it with a pin. If your soil is hard, be sure to loosen it with a trowel before trying to insert the stake.

How well does it work? My wife brushed against one of the stakes and hardly noticed the discharge but I maintain that you should really lick the electrodes to test he effect (haven't tried this yet). So far there has been very little browsing (though some Hostas were chewed a foot away from one stake). We know that the deer have visited by the droppings but the training effect seems to be holding for now. We have also resumed spraying with another repellent spray. With deer you really never know.
great product, great company

we've been using [6] of these for several years now, they work great....remember to change the cotton balls in the top several times per season, depending on how much soaking rain you get, and also remember to add extra acorn scent that comes with the set several times per season, maybe once per week...the company is very thoughtful and helpful; i just called them to tell them that i misplaced the bottle of acorn scent; they're sending me out a few bottles free of charge!...awesome!......
Expensive but seems to work

Expensive - for the price they should give you six units. It is very difficult to tell if the units are working. You have to touch them and take a shock to test them. It is also hard to tell if they are keeping the deer away since there is no way to tell if they were tripped. I bought them because I only have a few deer that wonder in to my two acres. I move the three stakes around about every 4 days. So far I have not seen any deer or any signs of them for the past four weeks. Buckshot and buzzcuts continue to be my most effective deterrent but these new contraptions require much less time and effort and the neighbors don't complain about wounded Bambi's running through their yards. Suggested improvements woudl be to increase the shock voltage, add a on indicator light and a discharge indicator light.
this one works!

I have many azaleas that the deer like to mow down. I have six of these deer repellents inserted into six plants and those six azaleas were not bitten all winter. Meanwhile, the others were really eaten. I am sure these are doing the trick. I wish they were't so expensive because it adds a lot to the price of a bush...but then when one considers the cost of losing the bushes, maybe it's not so bad.
In the summer, the ScareCrow motion activated sprayer is incredibly effective. I keep it in my vegetable garden but they stay away from my other gardens, too.
