Natural Dog Repellent
Dogs are man’s best friends, at least as long as they are yours and are not digging up your favorite flower garden. Let’s face it, stray dogs are a nuisance and can be dangerous for both your family and your pets. Stray dogs can bite, transmitting disease communicable to both you and your pets and some may cause severe injuries. Not to mention, stray dogs can leave unsightly, smelly messes behind long after they are gone. Unless you want to spend an exorbitant amount of money and build a fence, you need to find a way to repel the unwanted animals from your yard.
Commercial dog repellents are available, but tend to be a bit pricey and most or marginally effective. Not to mention, most contain chemicals that you would probably rather not expose your pet or small child to. The best method to repel neighbor dogs is to make your own natural dog repellent. Here’s how:
Step One: Determine what locations on your property the dog(s) appear to be frequenting.
Step Two: Purchase some plain white vinegar from your local grocery store as well as some new, clean, untreated sponges.
Step Three: Saturate the sponges with the plain white vinegar and place the sponges in the locations where the dog(s) frequents.
Step Four: Re-saturate the sponges daily.
It will take about a week or so, but the dogs will eventually begin to avoid the area to avoid the smell. If you notice that the vinegar method is losing its effectiveness, switch your plan of attack to using citrus oils. Dogs are equally adverse to citrus.
If you are also having trouble with cats, cats also tend to avoid areas that have a strong citrus smell, so use this method to naturally repel dogs as well as cats at the same time.
