Natural Squirrel Repellent
Squirrels, no matter how cute they may look, can be nuisances, especially when there are many. They have adapted quite well to living alongside humans, preferring to mooch off of bird feeders and garbage than to forage their own food. They can also cause a great deal of damage to your home if they decide that they would like to call your attic their home.
There are several ways to repel these pesky little creatures, some more palatable than others. The best way to keep the population of squirrels in your backyard to a minimum is to make your own natural squirrel repellants. Here’s how:
Step One: Boil a half full pot of water on the stove
Step Two: Dice one onion and two jalapeno peppers into tiny pieces and dump into the boiling water.
Step Three: Add one tablespoon of paprika and one tablespoon of Cayenne pepper to the boiling mixture.
Step Four: Allow the mixture to simmer for approximately twenty minutes and then allow to cool.
Step Five: Pour the liquid through a strainer, removing as much of the solid particles as possible and then transfer the liquid into a household spray bottle
Step Six: Spray all the areas you have noticed squirrels inhabiting. Make sure that you thoroughly coat plants and other items that the squirrels seem to be particularly interested in. Repeat the process weekly.
You will notice an immediate reduction in the number of squirrels that hang around your property, and with repeated applications, you will quickly notice that you are no longer plagued by these cute, but not so cuddly creatures. The good news is that this natural squirrel repellent does not require the use of harmful chemicals and will not hurt your plants, pets or children and is completely biodegradable.
